Today is Employee Appreciation Day!

It's a great day to reflect on whether your employee reward and recognition programs celebrate achievement above and beyond an employee's daily responsibilities.

Improving employee retention is largely attributed employee recognition. Three ways to show your employees you appreciate them are:

1. Social Recognition
Recognize your team members on social channels and with peer-to-peer recognition strategies.

2. Non-Cash Reward Programs
Cash is not the best motivator in the reward and recognition world. When given a choice between experiential preferences and cash, employees choose experiences.

3. Gift the Gift of Choice
The most success reward and recognition programs provide a breadth of options, including merchandise, retail gift cards, travel and experiences, charitable donations, branded items, and paid time off.

There are many ways to celebrate your employees, and employee recognition is only one of them. Other ideas are team-building activities, team lunches, giving them time off, or a small gift.

Make sure you take the time today--and every day!--to tell your employees how much you appreciate them.

Gaining the business of a company is as much salesmanship as it is investigative reporting, and much of the reporting is in-taking, comprehending, and feeding that information back to the customer in the form of a solution to their particular needs.
